Square Enix, the company behind the Final Fantasy video game series, has revealed intentions to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) initiative associated with the game series.
Collaboration with NFT marketplace Enjin will create and release a collection of Final Fantasy VII NFT. On Enjin’s Efinity blockchain, the collection will include the 25th Anniversary cards and figurines.
According to the business, a memorial figurine with a code that can be used to unlock an NFT edition of the figure will also be available for purchase.
Pre-orders for the figures are now open for interested customers, although those for trading cards won’t be available until later in 2022. There haven’t been any other pre-order announcements made yet.

Gamers, however, have not embraced the addition of NFTs to the conventional gaming setting. The Block said that when fans objected to the decision, GSC Game World, the Ukrainian video game studio behind the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise, canceled its intentions to add NFTs in its S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 release.
Square Enix’s president, Yosuke Matsuda, had made hints about the company allocating more resources to blockchain technology in 2022, which suggests that the company is planning to improve its gaming experience.
Matsuda wrote on January 1 that Square Enix was considering creating its tokens. He later clarified his remarks, telling The Block that he was observing instances of overheated trading in the NFT area.
Matsuda wrote in the letter:
“This is not an ideal scenario, but I anticipate to see an ultimate right-sizing in digital goods deals as they gain more widespread adoption among the general public, with the value of each available piece of content rectified to their true estimated value, and I look for them to become as common as transactions in physical goods.”

Square Enix became more interested in blockchain technology, especially after that occurrence. To invest in technology, coupled with investments in artificial intelligence and the cloud, $300 million in IP rights and studios were sold.
