Polygon and Immutable Collab to Bring Web3 Gaming To The Masses

Immutable, a Web3 gaming company, and Polygon have partnered up to create a new Web3-driven effort that will be known as Immutable zkEVM.

This attempt will be driven by the new zkEVM technology that will be developed by Polygon, and its goal is to integrate a greater number of gamers and programmers into the Web3 environment.

By integrating Polygon’s technology into Immutable’s game system, Immutable zkEVM would be able to provide Web3 game developers with an Ethereum-based infrastructure.

Because of this effort (1), Polygon is able to assist Immutable in avoiding the expenses and congestion associated with Ethereum without the latter having to construct its own alternative.

The release of immutable zkEVM is likely going to take place by the conclusion of the third quarter of this year. But, developers can get a head start on exploring the technology by developing software development kits right now.

Executives Speak

Robbie Ferguson, co-founder and president of Immutable, made the following statement in response to questions regarding the apparent immediate benefits of the Polygon-Immutable Web3 initiative:

“This is a fairly simple play for us; we saw the scaling constraints of Ethereum very immediately, yet we never considered competing with it,” they said. (2)

Ferguson added the following in regard to the anticipated merger of Web3 video game uptake services provided by the key builders behind Polygon and Immutable:

“This is the finale for us; this is the manner in which the next billion people will be enrolled into Web3,” we said. “For us, this is the endgame.”

Ryan Wyatt, President of Polygon Labs, referred to the collaborative effort as “another milestone in the advancement of blockchain gaming service.”

“For me, this is like the next development of mainstream adoption; you’re already starting to see blockchain games with more fidelity,” said Wyatt.

Wyatt, who thinks that the Immutable zkEVM initiative is something that is “quite organically aligned,” also stated that “gamers just want to play fantastic games; it’s that simple.”

“You really just need to get to a place where you’re abstracting away the crypto and jargon, and then you can have a game that’s simply extremely engaging.” And that’s what’s going to be on the horizon,” he went on to say.

Polygon and Immutable, Two Potential Scaling Networks for Ethereum

Polygon and Immutable are both Ethereum scaling networks, with Polygon serving as a sidechain to Immutable’s principal network.

Immutable X, on the other hand, is a layer-2 network that opens up the widely used blockchain to a wider variety of applications.

They include large-scale initiatives based on non-fungible tokens (NFTs), video games, and other types of decentralized applications (dApps).

In addition, both Polygon and Immutable make it possible for transactions to take place on the Ethereum mainnet more quickly and for less money.

The “strategic partnership” between both blockchain-centric players was rumored to have been formed before the start of the annual Game Developers Conference, where the news was initially made public.

Both Polygon and Immutable have mentioned that this cooperation is not a merger in their respective articles. Instead, both platforms would go on working on their individual projects and ambitions outside of the Immutable zkEVM ecosystem.

One of the most important aspects of the value proposition put up by Immutable zkEVM is that the service will make developer participation quicker, simpler, and less risky. In the supplied ecosystem, these creators can range from independent companies to huge game studios; all of them, however, have the potential to gain from one another.

On March 27, the much-awaited Polygon zkEVM mainnet system will begin its beta testing phase. In the meanwhile, both the current Immutable X scaling network and the newly developed Web3 gaming scheme, which is partnered with Polygon, will continue operating.

The zk-Rollup technology developed by StarkEx is being used as the foundation for Immutable’s X scaling network.
