Discord’s Clyde Bot gets AI Capabilities, Can Summarize Missed Chats for Users and More

Due to advancements in artificial intelligence, the company’s Clyde bot can now provide informational responses to users’ inquiries and carry on in-depth discussions with them. Moreover, users can initiate a topic for a certain group.

The bot also has access to GIFs and emojis and can suggest playlists like any other Discord user.

Discord Corp, a software solutions provider, has revealed (1) that it is beta-testing AI enhancements to its Clyde bot. While Clyde was initially released as a speech tool for video games, it has since been updated to include OpenAI ChatGPT technology, enabling users to carry on in-depth conversations with the bot.

An argument from Discord said:

The OpenAI technology brings Clyde to (artificial) life within Discord next week. Clyde may now converse in-depth with you and your pals, answering your queries and providing detailed responses.

Now, with the help of AI, Clyde can do things like respond to users’ inquiries and go on in-depth discussions with them. Also, it’s easy to make a post for a certain group. The bot also has access to GIFs and emojis and can recommend playlists like any other Discord user.

In addition, Discord is improving its AutoMod system, which uses numerous content filters to make regulation less time-consuming and more efficient.

In particular, moderators can now use Automod AI, which uses OpenAI technology to detect and notify the moderator of any violations of server rules while simultaneously archiving the conversational context.

Since its release late last year, Discord claims that its AutoMod feature has prevented posting 45 million spam messages on its servers on the basis of those restrictions.

Automatically generated summaries of conversations are another significant development. The function may sum up all the conversations a user skipped while being absent from a Discord server.

It works by categorizing the user’s conversation history into different themes, each of which may be clicked on to reveal the friends and messages associated with the topic.

And now, thanks to generative image models, buddies on Discord may customize each other’s avatars using the new Avatar Remix app.

In addition to the much-requested whiteboard peek of AI, Discord has also developed an AI incubator to aid programmers in creating AI for the platform.

Discord’s Backstory

Discord, which has been around since 2015, bills itself as a community-building voice, video, and text chat service. The original goal was to make it easier for people to talk to their online gaming buddies worldwide.

From its inception as a voice chat app for video games, Discord has expanded to become a global phenomenon, home to millions of users. This opens up exciting new possibilities for interacting with the online world as we know it now.

Discord is investing more heavily in AI to keep up with the times and remain at the forefront of the digital industry in the face of intense competition. The company currently has 150 million monthly active users, 19 million active servers per week, and 4 billion minutes of daily server interaction.

According to Discord CEO Jason Citron, the business is working to make the service a hub where millions of people can interact with AI in a streamlined manner. And so it is that the firm is spending money on research and development.
