Game Development Engine Unity Launches Web3 Game Development Tools for Developers

The top game production platform Unity announced that they connected to Web3 on Tuesday, February 28, while they unveiled a new “decentralization” category in their online store.

The Unity Asset Store will provide solutions that have been screened for quality to benefit game creators who are interested in decentralization tech and are ready to implement it.

Tools for Web3 Developers Provided by Unity

Decentralization represents the ownership models that will enable players to generate, earn, and get access to in-game resources that they can then exchange with other players.

This is particularly relevant to the environment in which we are discussing decentralization.

Also, interested developers can locate validated methods for handling digital products, build on blockchain systems, set up smart contracts, and do much more by browsing a specific page on the Asset Store.

As a component of the toolkit, Unity is going to provide support for a total of thirteen distinct blockchain-based computer programmer kits (SDKs).

This encompasses a variety of chains and products, including AIKON ORE ID, Algorand, Altura, Aptos Laboratories, ImmutableX, Dapper Labs, MetaMask, Infura (ConsenSys), Nefta, Pocket Full of Quarters, Tezos, Solana, and Truffle.

Because the Unity Asset Store has a decentralized storefront, game creators may also be able to implement blockchain technologies like metaverses and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to improve the quality of gameplay experiences.

MetaMask Software Development Kit (SDK) and Unity Game Engine

MetaMask spread the news (1) with a lot of excitement. It was mentioned that introducing the MetaMask Software Development Kit (SDK) into the Unity Asset Store would make it possible for developers to link their games to the MetaMask wallet.

Thanks to this, users will be able to engage with one another within the context of the game.

This new breakthrough may make way for an entirely fresh gameplay experience in the future. On its Twitter thread, MetaMask made the following observation:

The gaming market is expanding at a rapid rate, and the web3 gaming sector is luring a substantial amount of investment.

The potential for expansion is enormous, given that one million users are now linked to web3 games over 48 blockchains on a daily basis.

The MetaMask Software Development Kit (SDK) delivers the autonomy of self-custody to events all over the web, both on desktop computers and mobile devices.

In addition, MetaMask mentioned that its Web3 Early Adopter Program is going to assist developers in moving into Web3 by providing a grant of one hundred thousand dollars and guidance. Because of this, significant prospects for expansion and innovation in the sector would become available.

Web3 developers have been waiting for a very long time for Unity to launch its own set of tools and become a competitor in the industry.

The Web3 gaming platform Joyride successfully generated $14 million in March 2022, allowing them to support game developers while they built their games using Unity.
