Now There is an Online Business Course for Metaverse

The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania made the announcement on Tuesday that the Aresty Institute of Executive Education will begin offering a certificate program titled “Business in the Metaverse Economy.”

More Details of the Course

The course will be offered online for a duration of six weeks and will include a significant amount of immersion.

Wharton, which is widely regarded as one of the best business schools in the world, collaborated with the consulting firm Prysm Group to develop the course. It will feature over fifty lectures delivered by Wharton faculty as well as industry professionals, in addition to six different case studies.

Speakers will be invited from a variety of companies and organizations, including Adobe, Animoca Brands, R/GA, RLY Network, Second Life, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, amongst others.

Professor Kevin Werbach, who is the academic director of the program, made the following statement:

The metaverse is a significant and broad phenomenon that is still poorly understood. We hope to equip business leaders, consultants, and entrepreneurs with an understanding of the impending opportunities the metaverse brings.

The first group of students will begin their classes on September 12; for a cost of $4,500, they will be required to devote 8-10 hours per week to their academic pursuits.

Like what it did for its online course “Economics of Blockchain and Digital Assets” last year, which lasted for six weeks and cost $3,800, the university will accept cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.

Additionally, Wharton runs the Stevens Center Blockchain Laboratory and contributes to the online learning platform Coursera by providing a free introductory course on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Donations made in cryptocurrency are also welcome at the University of Pennsylvania, with a $10,000 minimum required. In 2021, Wharton was given a donation of $5 million in cryptocurrency, which it promptly changed into traditional currency. The gift of Bitcoin (BTC) has an estimated value that is somewhat lower than $2.5 million at the present time.

Wharton forecasts that by the year 2030, the metaverse will have 5 billion users and a commercial value of 13 trillion dollars. Wharton University asserted that it was the first school in the Ivy League to provide instruction on the Metaverse.
